long, that it seemed quite new. We went through the usual questions about "your best boy" and love letters etc. and then Sybil asked who was the prettiest girl of our age in Newport. Most of us thought Alice Blight the prettiest, but Sybil insisted Edith Blight and I were the prettiest. Naturely this is not so. Then we asked Sybil whom she considered the handsomest and after a good deal of persuasion she said "Evelyn Barden and you Gertrude"

We were both very much surprised, especially so when the other girls said: "Yes I suppose so". There were heaps more questions and I must say I got a great many to  many compliments. I fear I am getting vain, but Sybil said I am not stupid enough to care. I hope it is true.
