only seven, I was very tired. So I went to bed, and Mama came in to see me, declared I had a cold, and dosed me with medicine.

So ended this eventful day so charming in everything but the end (just the part that ought to have been well.) The week went on however as the preceding ones had only I had two hours of English an hour of music and three quarters of German. Sybil drove with

But I had a cold as Mama had said, and she said I could not ride until my cold was all over. 

Saturday morning at quarter before seven Martha came asking me if I wished to ride with Alfred. I said yes thinking my cold much better, and not wanting to wake Mama up. But a lot of thanks I got for it. I told Mama I had ridden, and in a second she was angry:
