married. I was later to make Bob one of my "boys" at GE and I have two photos of him and his wife, Charlotte, which are included below:

[[underline]] Note: [[/underline]] The above photo of Ens. and Mrs. Robert M. Coultas was taken in January 1943 at Urbana, I11. where he took officers training. The second photo is in "WPB-1942."

Bob sent me these pictures after he'd received his commission and was awaiting sea duty. After that came, he was in the Mediterranean and later in the Pacific in the thick of it for three years or more. We hired Bob after the war and he remained with us on transportation sales work in Erie, Cleveland and Washington for about 20 years and while he did well, I think that possibly his lack of an engineering degree hindered him a little. Bob finally left us for the Institute for Rapid Transit, a group supported by the rapid transit operators in Washington primarily for lobbying purposes as well as promoting rapid transit for large cities all over the country and lending help to local groups in pushing rapid transit plans. Bob soon became executive vice president of this group and I should say it was right up his alley. However, this move occurred after I retired and I am quite out of touch with the present status of Bob. But he and Charlotte raised a family of four children and are grandparents several times over by this time. They live in Washington and we continue to exchange Christmas cards but we don't see them. Incidentally, Bob too up art as a hobby, both painting and black-and-white work, and for years their Christmas cards have been made from something he's done, usually landscape or architectural subjects, many from abroad. He is very talented and I've kept some of these cards here in my diary from time to time.
