I had feared that Frank wouldn't want to come to Washington for a while after that affair last Thursday night. He told me he hadn't had such a session in the last six years. We had a delicious chicken dinner prepared by [[red underline]] Carroll's mother, a society minded [[/red underline]], very talkative, but very pleasant lady whom I met once before and whom [[red underline]] Carroll is wonderful to. [[/red underline]]  Spent the evening in conversation and all in all it was [[red underline]] very nice and very kind of them and  [[/red underline]] I appreciated it. Carroll is now working on ^[[a]] [[red underline]] door-stop limitation order [[/red underline]] and is pretty well shelved I judge as far as our business goes. But he sits in [[red underline]] Stevenson's outer office [[/red underline]] with George Cornell and to all appearances has had a [[red underline]] promotion [[/red underline]]. I feel sorry for him - he did a lot of good work and worked hard.

First thing this morning Charlie Creasser took March and me over to have a conference with [[red underline]] Col. Seybold [[/red underline]] over the army program for steam, [[red underline]] I to speak for the small builders [[/red underline]] on the 0-6-0 50 ton. The [[red underline]] Colonel never lets on [[/red underline]] he knows [[red underline]] I'm G.E. [[/red underline]] - never alludes to it. Found him very pleasant - [[red underline]] I believe he doesn't fully deserve the re-[[/red underline]] putation he has. [[red underline]] I have always found him okay. [[/red underline]] 
This afternoon we attended the [[red underline]]  Requirements Committee [[/red underline]] meeting and had to go out [[red underline]] sans a determination because Joe Weiner [[/red underline]] said he was unfamiliar with the program and wanted to study it over Sunday - claimed he was short circuited and the Army had given WPB their requirements before they gave them to him. [[red underline]] Weiner [[/red underline]]  head of Curlian Supply, had more to say than any other one individual on the Committee, making comments on
