[[checkmark, bullet point]] My letter of instructions to the builders went out at last today after some two weeks or more in the process of being mimeographed. I believe it represents a fair [[underlined]] accomplishment, [[/underlined]] and will do some good in clarifying confusion about L-97.

[[x, bullet point]] Frank Headley, now working for the Industrial Dept. at Philadelphia on airplane equipment and handling [[underlined]] Martin at Baltimore [[/underlined]] particularly, invited me to dinner and we had a nice reunion at L'Escargot after turning down an invitation to join Allan White and his wife and Capt. Baldwin and his girl friend for dinner and drinks. I'm still on the wagon except for the small amount of wine I drank last night - and [[underlined]] it doesn't seem to be doing me any good. [[/underlined]] Incidentally Mrs. White seemed much disappointed we did not join them - Frank and I have concluded she is a real hell raiser whom Allan doesn't satisfy sufficiently when it comes to hitting the hot spots.

[[checkmark, bullet point, north arrow]] Frank is all enthusiasm for the new job naturally - says one Martin ship has $83000 of G.E. equipment on it and the business prospects are fantastic. The Martin patrol bomber for the Navy has among other things an electric range and refrigerator! Frank feels his "after the war worries" are pretty well out of the picture now.

[[checkmark, bullet point]] Frank had a couple of good stories about C.E. Wilson. C.E.W. told Sidney Weinberg he had no place to live yet in Washington. S.W. said, "Why not stay at the Shoreham?" CEW said, "Oh, I've tried that, they're full." SW got them on the phone and said, "[[underlined]] Jones, [[/underlined]] this is Mr. Weinberg. I want an apartment for C.E. Wilson. - I don't give a damn if you are full. Who's in 249-b? - Check him out today! Mr. Wilson will take it this evening!" And he did! Then C.E. mentioned he'd like to fly to New York Saturday but there were 249 people already on the waiting list. S.W. called American Airlines - "[[underlined]] Smith, [[/underlined]] this is Mr. Weinberg. C.E. Wilson wants to fly to New York Saturday.
