^[[red check and dot]] Dupont wants 17 more 8 ton locomotives ^[[from Plymouth]] for gopher Ordnance after having 30 already on order at Brookville. I questioned Major McLeod on the quantity of 47 and he will investigate. He says they want about [[underline]] 1300 [[/underline]] cars for this plant too, which must be immense.

^[[red x and dot]] Comdr. Grace told me today GE was getting almost all AA1 for their fourth quarter PRP, whereas Vic had said AA4. Grace says their end use pattern is so predominantly Army and Navy they will get AA1 although their priority pattern is very poor. I hope Grace is correct.

^[[red x and dot]] I took some asperin today and was much better all day although I had an occasional touch of pain. I am stumped over this trouble of mine. It is like a will'o the wisp. I can't seem to make sense out of it. I think if I knew it couldn't be serious, I'd forget it and hence cure it like that. But I can't help it's worrying me and so I think about it and look for it. Went to bed tonight at 8:45. Elliott made up my berth first in the car.

^[[red check and dot]] Willie met me and all is well at home. Had a quiet couple of hours at the office straightening out a few WPB scheduling questions. This afternoon, I did some chores, got a haircut, and at 4:30 we all went to see Gary Cooper in "Pride of the Yankees", the story of Lou Gehrig's life. It was a really beautiful picture and one of the masterpiece's of the art in my opinion. It moved me more than anything I've seen in a long, long time. And Cooper is a genius. My physical trouble showed signs of cropping up again today - why I don't know. It wasn't bad but it was mildly worse. It was about a year ago that it left me for several months - and just as mysteriously.
