[[bullet point]] Vic and I and the girls had a very nice evening. They met us at the Rennix-Harley apartment where we all had a couple of drinks and then went down to the New Orleans for dinner. Kathryn had me very much puzzled and perturbed at the New Orleans at first because she wouldn't dance with me but later danced with Vic. It developed that she was feeling ill for a short while and apparently didn't like to admit it - she only had two small glasses of port wine so I don't know what made her that way. Later however, she was okay and we had a dance. Dorothy, the little girl from Sheridan, Wyoming, and honest as the day is long, announced her choice of drinks at the apartment as "scotch and soda" and during the course of the evening she had a total of five of them which apparently had no more effect on her than if they had been water; and she is a beautiful dancer, much better than Kathryn who is inclined to try to lead. Dorothy is not pretty, whereas Kathryn is pretty as a picture, but both of them looked tops tonight in their new fall suits and hats - very trim and big townish although I guess Sheridan is only a moderately wide place in the road. Kathyrn is from Minneapolis and from what Charlie tells me she has had a lot of family tragedy.

[[bullet point]] After dinner the girls said they would like to take a walk so we went all the way down to the Navy Bldg. where we saw the flood water nearly to Constitution Avenue; then we walked all the way down to Memorial Bridge to look at the river. Vic was about pooped with all this walking but he stuck it out - I think the girls could have walked all night - it didn't faze them at all.
