While I listened, [[underlined]] Whitey dictated [[/underlined]] a long (too long, I thought) reply to Charlie re his problems. About next Sunday, I'll have to [[underlined]] wrack my brains to answer it. [[/underlined]] I had a session with [[underlined]] Dick Miller [[/underlined]] who really has his back to the wall on making good on his authorized schedule - I really felt sorry for him - he wants so much to make good and this I think is the first serious reverse that threatens him. Personally I don't see how he possibly can come through but more power to him.

[[X]] Listened to the [[underlined]] Navy trounce the Army [[/underlined]] this afternoon 14-0 in an upset at Annapolis before only [[underlined]] 12000 people - ODT [[/underlined]] clamped down on travel to the game. Also cruised around town on errands - mothers radio, a piece of structo board for Rog's desk to make model planes on, etc.

This evening we had an almost old fashioned [[underlined]] party [[/underlined]] here at home, having Tarnos and Collins in to play a boisterous game of hearts to the tune of plenty of Cutty Sark and bourbon. We had [[underlined]] a blackout [[/underlined]] in the midst of things and had to hole up in the kitchen for a half hour, it being our only room equipped with a suitable blacked out window. I went outside (against rules so Willie says) during the affair to see how good our kitchen blackout curtains were and they were good - and it was certainly dark and quiet everywhere except for a couple of voices of air raid wardens somewhere up the street. We missed Barbara and Charlie and Maybelle. When the war's over, if we're all alive, we should have a great reunion - I wonder what that time will be like - and what we'll be like when it comes. The future certainly is filled with more uncertainties than ever before.
