as ever - hoped I would bring Willie down soon. A lovely portrait of her hung on one wall, and one of John on another, he with small mustache and cane, looking much younger; I pointed it out to him and he grinned and said, "Never saw the fella before!"
Pat and Patsy took me, Mat, Mildred and daughter Jane to dinner at their apartment house after another "ball" up in their living room. [[underlined]] Poor Jane [[/underlined]] is nearly six feet tall, taller than either Mat or Mildred, and has heavy glasses for her weak eyes. She isn't an attractive girl and I felt terribly sorry for her. I should expect a child of theirs to be very good looking because they both are good looking people, particularly Mildred, but Jane was frowned on by fate for some reason. Pat and Patsy did G.E. proud - a very fine couple, and I was proud of them.

Am spending these last few days in WPB trying to pass on to Art as much as possible of what I know about the job and cleaning up odds and ends so I can leave with things in good shape. Today we were called upon by Messrs. Evans and Gross of Evans Products of Detroit, the builders of the [[underlined]] Evans Autorailer, [[/underlined]] who protested our recent decision that their product should come under the Automotive Division and not us.  They had quite a plausible story but to have them under L-97 with their hybrid machine will be a headache.  I'm not concerned but Vic will be from a CMP angle.  I can see some legitimate uses for the autorailer but was heartily fed up when Gross finished a high pressure sales talk about the autorailer doing the work of a diesel-electric locomotive four times as heavy, having less rolling friction, using less critical materials for the same work, etc, etc.
