[[underline]] Spent the day winding up my affairs at the office [[/underline]] - expense account, giving Art final instructions and explanations of current jobs, [[underline]] saying good-byes to everyone. [[/underline]] One job I did was to [[underline]] kill Marsh's special air-brake equipment for the 56 GE army locomotives [[/underline]] - it became very [[underline]] evident yesterday,[[/underline]] after swapping orders all over the map with McLeod, Harris and Baldwin, [[underline]] that such special equipment could not be applied [[/underline]] to all the locomotives and would bolix things up properly if applied to any of them.

[[underline]] Art, Dirk and Vic took me to lunch at the Roger-Smith [[/underline]] and at 5:15 PM [[underline]] Art, Dick and I headed for the station where we joined Ed, Ralph Johnson, Nevin Watt, Lou Metzger and Andy Campbell for a drink before the take-off. [[underline]] I discovered to my consternation that [[underline]] since this morning, the [[underline]] positions of all the parcel lockers [[/underline]] had been [[underline]] changed [[/underline]] since this morning and this, with some difficult finding the key in my pocketbook, gave me some paralyzing moments. [[/underline]] But I found the key [[/underline]] and the locker in time and was in the diner opposite Al Ohmer as we pulled out. [[underline]] To bed at 9 PM.

So my career as a Dollar-a-Year-Man is over. [[underline]] Looking back, it [[underline]] seems somehow that I didn't accomplish much. And yet the small locomotives, much needed for the [[/underline]]
