8.602 A carved stone mantel.
      French work of th XVIIth century.
      
      This mantel shows an architectural com-
      position, the fire-place being surmounted
      by a panel in a frame-work setting with
      cherub heads at the upper angles.
      In the centre - a corbel also decorated
      with cberub heads. On each side -two
      pilasters with Corinthain capitals. On
      the fronton - a shield with coat-of-arms.

      Depth:   1' 2"4/5

      This mantel comes from Moriq s/Mer,
      Vendée (France). It was in a castle 
      having belonged to admiral de la
      Tremoille whose arms are seen on the
      fronton of the mantel.

12.459 A Niederwiller porcelain clock with a 
       revolving dial.
       French work of the Transition period
       (Louis XV - Louis XVI)

       The body of this clock is in the form of
       a vase with a medallion, in front and
       back, showing river and landscape scenes
       on a blue background. The handles are
       formed by masks representing woman's
       heads, from which are suspended garlands
       in the form of flowers. The cover is
       decorated with white acanthus leaves on
       a blue background.
