Dear Mr. Whitney:

On the suggestion of my father-in-law, Mr. John D. Hertz, I am taking the liberty of sending you these lines, not knowing quite where they will reach you as I know you are a very travelled person.

I should be interested to know if you are still disposed to sell your famous Renoir painting of the "Moulin de la Galette", and if so I should like to know at what price.

We have had several very serious demands for important works by Renoir both here and abroad, and if you would be willing to part with your painting at an interesting figure, I believe that we might be able to sell it for you.

Awaiting the favor of your reply and hoping to hear from you in the near future,

I am

Yours very sincerely,

(Robert M. Levy)
