Dear Mary:

Let me first wish you a very Happy New Year and express the hope that you started it in a most pleasant fashion.

With the disruption caused by the holidays, I am wondering whether your eyes had a chance to catch the article published in the New York Times, on December 30, referring to "Ford Foundation Is Establishing A $750,000 Translating Center".

Should it have escaped you, I am enclosing it herein.

It seems to me that it is a step in the direction of the topic we have been discussing and could not the Kress Foundation take advantage of this new organization extending its activities towards our purpose?

I do not know whether Foundations "talk" to each other - or are too jealous of their respective achievements or too egocentric to cooperate with each other?

Be this as it may, should you not have read this article it may hold your attention.

With renewed good wishes and kind regards,

Sincerely yours,

Germain Seligman
