Dear Mr. Kress:

On Saturday night thousands upon thousands of people streamed through the National Gallery in Washington, in tribute to your achievements.

In this din, my voice would hardly have been heard, hence my desire to send you these few lines for, if one more praise will have little weight you will know however that they carry with them warmth and sincerity and do accept my renewed congratulations on so magnificent a monument built sheerly by your generosity and for the love of your neighbor.

Sincerely yours,

Germain Seligman
