January 25, 1955

Dear Mr. Emerson:

I am happy to be able to tell you that the portrait by J. A. D. Ingres, which had been delayed in Paris by strikes, has at last been delivered to me. You will recall that I had mentioned this portrait in the course of your last visit here.

It would give me considerable pleasure to be able to show it to the members of the S. H. Kress Foundation in view of its exceptional merit.

With personal regards,

Sincerely yours,

Germain Seligman
