[[underlined]] by hand [[/underlined]]

April 13th, 1956

Dear Mr. Emerson:

As per your request, I take pleasure in sending you by bearer, the accompanying pamphlet containing photographs of my great French Gothic Marble "Virgin and Child" of the XIVth Century. The latter does not do justice to the beauty of this exceptional work of art, and it would be fairer, if I may say so, to show the original than the prints!

You realize of course, that sculpture of [[underlined]] marble [[/underlined]] in France during the middle ages, were extremely rare, and this due to the very limited number of quarries in existance in that country.

With personal regards,

Sincerely yours,

Germain Seligman
