CLARENCE L. "CUSH" FRANKLIN
Guard
Franklin was captain of the '30 Championship team and was the unanimous choice of the leading critics as "all-American guard." Franklin's uncanny ability of booting field goals will be surely missed. His place kicking, all around defensive play, and fine blocking brands him as the greatest guard the southwest has produced in a decade.

HENRY T. S. "RUNT" JOHNSON
Quarterback
Johnson is the captain-elect '31. He was the first choice for quarterback on Coach Long's mythical All-Southwest eleven. He will be a senior next year and should be a great leader as he knows the game and is the type of player who can get fight out of the team. Watch out All-Americans!

ELZA ODELL
Fullback
Odell, the Gary flash, literally stormed the Southwest with his kangaroo leaps. Some say he is a carbon copy of Ben Cavil, but I think he is greater than Cavil because he is a defensive man par excellence. His ability to catch passes in difficult positions places him well beyond Cavil. He should be the best fullback in the country next year.
