October 18, 1960

To Members of the OX5 Club of New York:

This is a double barreled notice of OX5 Club of New York activities scheduled to take place before the end of 1960, so make a note of both dates on your appointment calendar.

One of the biggest gatherings of old time aviators ever held on Long Island will take place at 6:00 P.M., Saturday, November 12th, 1960, in a private dining room of the Horn & Hardart restaurant, located directly opposite the big R. H. Macy store at the Roosevelt Field Shopping Center, Mineola, Long Island, New York.

Arrangements have been made for a roast beef dinner costing $3.00 (including gratuity) and waitresses will be waiting to serve you in this beautiful dining room overlooking the old flying field and the Roosevelt Raceway grandstand. A new cocktail bar has just been installed. Your ladies and friends will be welcome.

The following aviation organizations are invited to join with us on this occasion to help make it a real home-coming party for the pioneer aviators who made so much aviation history here at the "Cradle of Aviation". Much reminiscing is expected to ensue and guest speakers will do their bit: The OX5 Club of New Jersey; the Early Birds; Long Island Early Fliers Club; Ninety-Nines; Daedalians; Antique Airplane Association; Quiet Birdmen; and the Aviation Historical Society.

Accommodations are limited, therefore to insure being assigned a table, please fill out and return at once the enclosed questionnaire, stating how many will be in your party. 217 attended our last meeting at Idlewild.

After 22 years, the giant fresco, 106 ft. x 12 ft. aviation mural, painted by Miss Aline Rhonie, aviatrix and artist, in the 1930's, has just been successfully removed from the brick wall inside old Hangar "F", by Prof. Leonetto Tintori of Florence, Italy, and is now being restored and mounted on masonite sections, in the building next door to the restaurant where this meeting of OX5ers will take place. Miss Rhonie, the creator and owner of this famous painting, has invited all those attending this meeting to drop in and view the restoration work now going on.
