The Air Transport Association of America was organized in 1936 to represent the scheduled and certificated airlines of the United States. Its service to the public and the Federal government on behalf of its members represents an ever widening range of activities from the improvement of safety, to planning that is relative to the airlines' role in national defense and peace-keeping. Stuart Guy Tipton has served as president of the Association from December, 1955.
