Arcola, N. C., Bird Report. June 5 - 9, 1917. Alexander Wetmore. [[underlined]] Colinus virginianus. [[/underlined]] Quail were very common and were nesting at this time. Many were seen in fields of wheat, oats, and vetch. [[underlined]] Zenaidura m. carolinensis [[/underlined]] Common, breeding. Several collected. For notes on habits see report on investigation ^[[ / ]] of injury to Growing Crops by Mourning Doves, for this same period. [[underlined]] Cathartes a. septentrionalis. [[/underlined]] Fairly common. Seen daily. [[underlined]] Coragyps urubu. [[/underlined]] Said to occur at times when carrion was available. Known locally as the "South Carolina Buzzard." [[underlined]] Accipiter cooperi. [[/underlined]] One was seen on June 7. [[underlined]] Butco lineatus. [[/underlined]] One seen June 8. [[underlined]] Butco platypterus platypterus. [[/underlined]] One see June 7. [[underlined]] Bubo virginianus virginianus [[/underlined]] One was heard calling late in the afternoon on June 7.
