About 30 Eared grebes feeding in one spot. Swim actively about picking at water. occasionally diving. A few seem to be thinking of mating. A pair at one side rise with a sudden commotion to penguin position and then sink back & preen sides.

Song of Sage thrasher, at beginning reminds me of Zonotrichia, then wander on and changes becomes more intricate, burring notes that while much creep in [[fascin?]] accompaniment when clearer notes whistled [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]] varied and pleasing carry the song on to a close. low trills and varied combinations make the song reminding me of the improvisation of some gifted musician. [[strikethrough]] who is [[/strikethrough]]
[[male symbol]] Yellowhead in display flys slowly in direct flight toward female. head & tail cowered but feet slightly extended with flapping widely extended wings that he raises high over body & brings down beneath but does not close. makes a rattling noise  This displays white markings to great advantage.

2 [[male symbol]] coots flew at each other & began to fight sitting back & striking with big feet & jabbing savagely with bills. female found one and [[cuded?]] him second female appeared two pairs then advanced threateningly toward one another & then whirled & steamed slowly back in display keeping this up for several minutes [[female symbol]] then began to bathe [[underlined]] [[much?]] [[/underlined]] as a [[underlined]] duck [[/underlined]] would. 

Yellowhead alights & holds wings [[underlined]] up [[/underlined]] in display for few seconds. Then clambers along through rushes as though in search of something.

Eared grebe [[male symbol]] & [[female symbol]] dive & then rise and [[underlined]] rush [[/underlined]] off prostrate in [[breast?]] with wings beating in water. 

[[male symbol]] gadwalls swim toward one [[atwther?]] & females with head held [[underlined]] up [[/underlined]] calling back [[every?]] [[rarely?]] bowing.
