[[female symbol]] Bluebill swims with head vertwhile male keeps neck drawn in. She turns alternately towards and away from him sometimes biting gently at him occasionally he responds by biting back. She dives toward him barely sliding under him & coming up a few feet away. A rival male is driven away by first male but female pays no attention to him. She continues her advances towards the first male brushing against and turning her back with lowered tail. He dives with her more & more frequently Finally both dive for 20-30 seconds & copulation apparently takes place as female swims off with lowered head with [[male symbol]] in attendance preening

Eared grebe pulls out breast feather & discards it. Another pulls
[[checkmark]] one out & tries to shake it loose from bill. Feather sticks to side of bill so grebe works it into mouth & swallows it

Male coot rushes across water at female who makes pretense at escape but merely kicks water out at side without travelling rapidly Male then turns & displays

[[checkmark]] Flight of gadwalls in mating is slow & slightly irregular [[male symbol]] & [[female symbol]] fly with head & neck slightly raised above axis of body

2 male gadwall begin to call
[[checkmark]] & swim toward female who rises & flies. Male sails for short distance at intervals with set wings. 2nd male finally drops out and returns

[[checkmark]] while [[male symbol]] while. Flight is slow & male swings ahead of female with set decurved wings, a beautiful sight. They then sail down to water. heads west

[[checkmark]] Flock of 25-30 coots mating, seem if great animation. Swimming about heads prone in water. Displaying constantly. Two copulating seize each other by feet & joined breast heads [[?]] held far apart [[?]] joined.
