Increase in water here due probably to draining rice fields. Great flight of Sprig from west and northwest at daybreak. Birds came on in swiftly [[checkmark]] flying irregular lines broken into companies like soldiers. Line followed line until in the aggregate 20,000 birds must have passed all were travelling southeast toward Sacramento River 100-150 yards high. Passed with a swift rush of wings.
