[[underlined]] Minutes of January 28, 1980 [[/underlined]]

The Chancellor referred to the Minutes of the meeting of January 28, 1980, which had previously been distributed, and the Regents approved the following motion:

VOTED that the Board of Regents approves the Minutes of the Meeting of January 28, 1980, as previously circulated on March 7, 1980.

[[underlined]] Report of the Executive Committee [[/underlined]]

The Chancellor introduced the report of the Executive Committee of the Board of Regents, which had met at 1:00 p.m. on April 2, 1980 in the Smithsonian Building.  Present were: 

Chief Justice Warren E. Burger, Chancellor
James E, Webb, Chairman
William A.M. Burden
Caryl P. Haskins
S. Dillon Ripley, Secretary

Also present were: Under Secretary Phillip S. Hughes; Assistant Secretary for Administration John F. Jameson; Treasurer Christian C. Hohenlohe; Executive Assistant to the Secretary James M. Hobbins; and Administrative Assistant to the Chief Justice Mark W. Cannon.

The executive committee considered the agenda proposed for the Regents meeting of May 5, 1980, and its comments were incorporated in the agenda papers distributed in advance of the Regents meeting.

A review of the expiration dates of current citizen Regent terms revealed that the terms of Dr. Haskins, Mr. Burden, and Dr. Gell-Mann will expire August 30, 1980.  Having served four six-year terms, Dr. Haskins has decided not to seek and additional one.  Mr. Burden wishes to serve one more term,
