[[underlined]] Regents Resolutions [[/underlined]]

H.J. Res. 493 and H. J. Res. 494, bills appointing Mr. Bowen and Mr. Humelsine to the Board of Regents, were introduced and passed by the House on January 30. They were reported favorably by the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration on February 20. The Senate approved H.J. Res. 493 on March 4 and H. J. Res. 494 on March 5. On March 13 they were signed by the President.

[[underlined]] National Museum Act [[/underlined]]

The Senate Committee on Rules and Administration considered S. 1786, to authorize further appropriations under the National Museum Act, on March 13. The Committee adopted two amendments, one of which was requested by the Office of Management and Budget, that would authorize $803,000 instead of $1,000,000 for FY 81. The lesser amount is the same as that included in the Institution's pending budget request. The other amendment would extend the authorization only through FY 82 rather than through FY 83 as the Regents proposed at their meeting in May, 1979.

The bill was reported favorably on March 26, and approved by the Senate on April 1.

A companion measure, H.R. 5023, is pending before the Subcommittee on Libraries and Memorials of the Committee on House Administration, but no action has been taken on it.
