[[underline]] Cost estimates. [[/underline]] The charges made for all facilities and services for special events levied only to meet direct costs and a percentage of facility overhead and depreciation.

The figures shown above for facilities are used as guidelines to develop estimated costs for special events which are of a one-time nature and short duration, usually two hours.

Please note the cost guidelines in this exhibit, current at the date of this revised OM 724, are subject to change due to variations in building and protection operations costs, increase in wages and salaries, and other considerations.

Always call the appropriate building manager, the Office of Protection Services, or other Smithsonian support units when an event is being planned to obtain complete and current estimates of cost. Copies of this exhibit as well as floor and seating plans, as available, may be obtained from the appropriate building manager to assist applicants in developing the estimated cost of an event.

If an event will be of unusual duration or will require special preparations including materials and other costs, an estimate of the charge for facilities may be obtained from the appropriate building manager and Smithsonian support units.
