At the Front Royal Conservation Center, about $120,000 was recently committed to development of a formal and detailed plan for rehabilitation and improvements much like the original Rock Creek master plan. This document is expected to be available for review late next spring. Also at the Center, new city sanitary and water hookups are complete, and new hoofed stock facilities are being designed.

[[underlined]] Renwick Exterior Repairs [[/underlined]]

Several full-scale precast concrete samples have been produced to replicate the natural stone of the Renwick Gallery facade. Additional molds and castings are under production. It is anticipated that these samples, which are undergoing advanced weathering tests, will be presented to the Commission of Fine Arts for inspection in September 1980. Based on experience with repaired production techniques, construction costs estimates for the facade repairs using precast concrete are being re-evaluated, and estimates for natural stone also are being updated. An amount of $600,000 was appropriated in FY 1980 and $1.0 million is included in the FY 1981 budget request to begin construction.
