The Executive Committee noted with pleasure that Regent Norman Y. Mineta has agreed to serve as Chairman of the Freer Visiting Committee, which was established in 1971 to advise the Secretary and the Director of the Freer Gallery of Art on all facets of the Gallery's activities. Mr. Mineta will soon be briefed on Freer operations and the role of the Visiting Committee.

The Executive Committee devoted considerable attention to the Five-Year Prospectus as a process. It believes that the Institution's experience has been positive to date and the Prospectus has contributed to better internal management and to improved communications with the Office of Management and Budget and the Congress. The Committee endorses the Secretary's suggestion that in the future the Prospectus be expanded to include a view of eight to ten years.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:45 p.m.
