service of the Russian American Co. and living at Mumfar, travelled up once to Port Aian by land in the winter, with reindeer and a Turguse who was employed by the company to bring once in the winter a mail from Port Aian to Munifer, and who always travelled between the Juffar Range and the coast.  Captain Swarts had once also come from Port Aian to Mumpu with two whale boats, and stopped in at the mouths of different rivers.

Mr. Bodisco, the chief of the Governer [[Chancery?]], gave me a map of the Sea Coast Provinces to copy, and Admiral Kassokeivitch very kindly sent me a rude Map showing the reindeer route from the Amoor by way of Ovelle Lake to Nilkan and thence Port Aian, but it showed nothing of the country east of the Jugger between Andyskoi and Port Aian.

Of the country between Aian and Okhotsk I could not obtain the slightest information, except the fact that Turguse lived there and that the Tunguse Igrictu Karamsir who carried the mail for the R. I. Co. had once during the time of the last war gone from Aian part way towards Okhotsk and purchased reindeer, which he brought to Nicolaevsk for the Govt. as food for soldiers.

Having decided to go to Turgur by way of Ovelle Lake, His Excellency Admiral Turyghelm procured us reindeer, which are very scarce in the vicinity, he having to send one hundred versts for the turgero, allowed us to have made in the Post, a tent, some boxes and canvass bags for packing deer, and after securing
