     My party consisted of Lieuts. A.S. Arnold & Alex. Harder & Messrs. Robinson Smith & Davis, I proceeded at once on board the schooner "Milton Badger" with my stores and party & August 21st sailed for the mouth of the Anadyr River. At Ounimak passage of the Alieutian Islands, spoke the Golden Gate Sept. 6th Captain Scammon came on board the Schooner, I informed him that his orders to Capt. Harding made no mention of taking my party to the town of New Kamtchatka, should I not find transportation  at the mouth of the Anadyr River, I ernestly requested him to give Capt. Harding verbal instructions to comply with that part of my orders should I desire it. This he refused to do telling Capt. Harding to obey his orders as he found them. I was much surprised at this reply, it rendered the most essential point in my orders of no avail.
