the Olgan and Myan rivers with the line. We selected a place nearly opposite the high hill at the mouth of the Olgan. Crossing the Olgan river to a point of land running between it and the Myan. Distance across at this point about 300 yards, crossing a low piece of ground to the brink of the Myan thence across the latter a distance of 270 yards, thence across the low ground to brow of the bluff, where my party will commence cutting and distributing poles, cutting enough to reach S. bank of Olgan, and leaving piled upon ground, not covered by the flood in Spring freshet. Sunday. 10 clear and cold. March 11th Storming this morning- wind and snow blowing from N. West. Mr Colburn, Smith and myself, went up the Myan to the point at which we will commence work, and followed the bluff down. Saw a fine he[[strikethrough]]a[[/strikethrough]]rd of reindeer feeding on a small lake. We found trees for poles convenient to the point, at which I wished to commence- Returned to Camp at noon. Tuesday. 12, Still storming, cutting poles with Mr. Macraes party below the Station. I went up the river in the afternoon. Wed. 13. Weather clear and pleasant. Started with my party on my section of the line. Went up about 4 miles and made camp. Illia helped us with his dogs, also gave
