us a fine lot of fish, which were very acceptable, as our commissary was not supplied with any too great abundance. We had only a supply of provisions for 10 days. Wed. 13th We called our camp No 1. I went out in the afternoon to locate the line around the bluffs below the camp, and found what I think a practicable and suitable line to run it on, following the bluffs for about one mile, and crossing a small flat below our first camp, for a few hundred yards, then crossing on the bluff again. We are having very fine weather and all concur in saying that they have not slept so soundly or so well during the whole winter, as we did the first night in our camp, our beds being the branches of the "Saswack"

Thursday 14th Commenced cutting and distributing poles this morning, cut 25 poles and piled them up, being enough to reach the bank of the Olgan. I went down to the station and returned in the evening - cut and distributed 2 1/2 miles of poles. Friday. Located the line to the 4th bend in the river - 68 poles cut and distributed. Saturday 16. Up early this morning, had breakfast and took up camp packing all our camp fixtures and tools in the nartes. The men dragging it over the snow to our next camping place. Some places proved very difficult to get over,
