the snow being too soft to bear the men and nartes up.  After we proceeded about 2 miles Illia overtook us with two deer sent by Mr. Macrae they having come down from Maskovas.  He helped us with his dogs and narte the balance of the way. We had just time to complete the camp and prepare supper by sundown.  This camp is 4 1/2 miles from Camp 1. and we called it No. 2.  We had a hard days work but all felt in good spirits as we had received an accession to our Scanty supply provisions.  Sunday 17th Up to this time the weather has been all that we could desire but this morning the indications are very unfavorable for its continuance.  I went three miles up the river and found a pretty good supply of poles along the route.  I propose to run the line. I have succeeded thus far in locating the line in nearly a straight direction from the point of commencement, making the distance about 1/3 what it is by the bends in the river.  Monday 18.  Cloudy and quite cold this morning with a slight fall of snow, cutting and distributing poles.  Got back to camp where [[strikethrough]] where[[/strikethrough]] we left off Saturday by noon.  I expected it would have taken us all day, 20° below zero. Tuesday 19.  Went down to the Station wrote a letter to Capt. Bush returned in the afternoon about 3 P.M.  Wednesday 20 Moved camp again
