protect us from the wind. Stormy night not quite so cold. Two inches of snow fell during the night. We ate our last meal of beans for dinner. We have a little deer meat, hard tack and about 3 lbs Sugar and Tea.
Monday 15th- ^[[We all had a good sleep last night.]] Wind and storm ceased. Sun shining, still pretty cold, wind from S. Caught 5 grouse this morning. I went down the river this morning and put up more signals for nartes to come up the river should they arrive. My eyes pained me very badly.
Several of the men complained in the same way, particularly Mason. Set 6 more traps this afternoon. I went down the river and put up another signal. Had grouse stew for supper.
Some of the party said that they never had tasted a stew that tasted so well. Wind from West and moderately cold. Tuesday 16. Camp No. 7.-
Very cold again this morning. Wind from N. E. with indication of a storm. No signs of any nartes yet.
Had deer stew for Breakfast with tea and 1/2 a hard tack. Indications of another stormy day. Set 10 grouse traps and concluded that if no nartes arrived by morning
