Dr. Sir, Mr Kennicott being busy I have taken the liberty of writing you thinking a word from the expedition might not be entirely unacceptable. We succeeded in obtaining in N. York a very good outfit. And so far as I know the Telegraph Co was well satisfied with the combination of science and labor Mr K's party possessed. The passage has not been in-total an unpleasant one. Though at first we experienced some rough weather. Against which the party stood out well but one of us was really sea-sick. Since crossing the Gulf Stream we have been watching the flying fish. They are now very abundant, and give us Capital chances for observation. So far as I know the party in at least its mission has elicited quite an interest from the passengers
