to the Est and Westward of the Moon in order to secure greater accuracy. I tried also, several times to get observations of the eclipses in Jupiters moons by means of the Telescope with which I am furnished, but failed on account of the planets great southerly declination, not being able to distinguish those small stars so near the horizon. I succeeded in observing an occultation of the "Aldebaran" by the moon in the night between the 19th and 20th of December 1866. But not having the necessary  ephemeries I could not from that calculate the Longitude. In the beginning of November I accompanied you up Unalachlut river as far as Ulukkluk and tried to locate that place.

I got a lunar observation during the night, but failed to get the Latitude on the following day on account of cloudy weather. The North star I could not use, being to high
