[[underlined]]Unrestricted Special Purpose Trust Fund[[/underlined]] income remains at the same level projected in May, with only minor offsetting adjustments. Expenditures will exceed budget by some $400,000, associated in part with efforts to develop television production potential at the Smithsonian and increased expenditures for fellowships. 

Income to [[underlined]]Restricted Purpose Trust Funds[[/underlined]] in FY 1982 is now projected to exceed budget bu over $1.0 million. A higher than expected number of gifts and grants have been received by the Museums of Natural history and American History for exhibitions, research and other programs. In addition, the Office of Museum Programs has been received a three-year grant of $1,051,000 from the Kellogg Foundation for fellowships, colloquia, workshops and video-tapes designed to strengthen the  educational role of America's museums. Overall expenditures will be slightly higher than May estimates, but with variances by program.

[[underlined]]Federal Agency Grants and Contracts[[/underlined]] have decreased to $13.4 million from previous estimates of $15.6 million as NASA support to the Astrophysical Observatory for space shuttle experiments and the Satellite Tracking Program continues to be reduced or deferred. 

[[underlined]]FY 1983 - Budget (Schedule D)[[/underlined]]

The overall operating budget of the Institution for FY 1983 is shown on schedule D. As indicated, gross income is budgeted to total $272,822,000, compared to $253,360,000 in FY 1982, an increase of $19.5 million, or 7.7 percent. Net funds provided, after deduction of auxiliary and bureau activity expenses, is budgeted at $179,398,000, an increase of $14,001,000, or 8.5 percent of the FY 1982 projected level.
