The Secretary highlighted the following status reports which were distributed in advance of the meeting. 

[[underline]] Other Major Construction Projects [[/underline]]
[[underline]] Arts and Industries [[/underline]] A contract for roof, facade and other repairs to the northwest quadrant of the A&I Building, including the pavilion, west tower and entrance, and the NW and WN ranges, was awarded in the amount of $1.9 million. Work began June 18, and is scheduled for completion by June 1983. This work will be followed by subsequent phases in successive fiscal years. 
[[underline]] Cooper-Hewitt Museum [[/underline]]. A fee in the amount of $100,000 was negotiated with the architect-engineering firm of Hardy, Holzman, Pfieffer and Associates for the preparation of a conceptual design and materials appropriate to fund raising for a proposed facility expansion. This project was reported briefly in the July [[underline]] Newsletter to the Regents [[/underline]]. 
[[underline]] American Art and Portrait Galleries [[/underline]]. Phase I renovation of the heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning system (HVAC), including installation of new chillers, is approximately 97% complete, with the balance of work list items to be completed by early August. Phase II roof repairs are 70% complete and are expected to be completed by the end of August. 
[[underline]] Freer Gallery [[/underline]]. Steam station demolition for Phase II HVAC improvements is approximately 25% complete. The east half of the exhibit area has been provided with a new air-conditioning system, and the west half is now closed for similar air-conditioning system replacement. Target completion date for this project is late September 1982.
