Commissioner, State of North Carolina, Sir: - I would respectfully solicit at your hands the appointment to the position of Assistant Superintendent of Schools at this point. I would briefly state my qualifications for the place as follows: - A liberal education at Harvard University, endorsed by the degree of "Master of Arts." Experience as a teacher in Schools- A residence of nearly five years in this city, with a full knowledge of the wants of this section in the matter of schools; and an influence among the colored people, based on a two years' occupancy of the position of Cashier of the Freedman's Savings and Trust Co's Branch Office in this city- Respectfully referring you to the endorsements accompanying this application, I remain Very respectfully yours [[signature]] C.
