The undersigned Freedmen near Harrisburgh Depot represent that they have now raised the frame of a house for educational purposes, twenty five by fifty feet, and fourteen feet high. They have laid the sleepers and joists, and put up the rafters. They have on hand plank for weatherboarding and flooring; also sash for six windows. And being unable to complete the building we ask aid of the Freedmen's Bureau, to the following amount.

Vis. Nine thousand oak shingles at $3,00 per thousand  $27,00
plank for ceiling 4200 feet at 1,75 per hundred        $73,50
plank for seating vis. 70 seats ten feet long,
requiring 42 feet each at 1,75 per hundred             $29,40
Seventy two lights of glass 10 X 16 inchs 18 cts each  $12,96
One keg of nails                                        $8,00

With the above aid we can complete our house in a community thickly inhabited, and where we expect to have a constant attendance in school six months in the year, from fifty to one hundred scholars. Signed by Leading Freedmen
