Genl:  I have the honor respectfully to state that, after the assurances of Bvt. Lt. Col. J. F. Chur, that my appointment should stand, as Clerk, in the Office, at this station, — whose letter is herewith enclosed — and depending upon this appointment, I contracted one, or two debts, expecting to pay them from my salary for the month of November, 1868. On the 24th of October, 1868, I received the Order, cancelling my appointment, to take effect Oct. 31st 1869.
