I purchased a lot in a good locality, 500 yards from the very center of the Town, 160 feet fronting on Gladding St & 113 feet deep, for which I paid $400 cash. On the lot I erected a large & comfortable dwelling for a teachers home, this was three years ago, last fall I extended the building. it now stands 49 feet front & 52 feet deep, for the whole I have expended $3000. the building is of good material, and well built, and would make, with but little expense a fine School house The Freedmen are without a single school room of their own in this Town, and are not able to build any
