home a little after midnight -
Found them all sleeping -
_ the sleep of the _ weary -[[having?]]
been to the Depot, & not finding me
on the train they expected, gave me
up for that day - The card I sent,
telling them I should be on the
Erie, instead of the New York Central,
came a few hours after I did.
     I found all well, & glad to see me.
I am quite well, & [[underlined]] settled [[/underlined]]- Am Looking over "Six Months in Italy" - & reading
[[underlined]] earnestly [[/underlined]] Canon Farrar's works-
James Bradford, Fannie's oldest one,
is reading Macauley's History of England
with me, & I am going to take up Horace by
myself- I have his history, & have read it, but
 I want to read it again, & compare it
with Macauley's. - all were glad to 
hear from you, & will be glad to see you
Jennie is improving greatly -
