My dear Alice

Your letters are always very welcome, & I hasten to reply to this last, as there are some things you may like to know at once.

My boys were in the 24th Wisconsin Regiment.  Charley enter'd Lieut. & left Captain.  Henry enter'd as private - left Lieut.  Charley serv'd two years & a half.  Henry something over a year.   He was severely wounded at Chicamauga - shot twice through his arm - two of his fingers were shot so they had to be amputated -- his whole hand is injured he was unfit for service.

Henry Brinkerhoff was born 28th Oct 1834 - Henry Gilmen April 28th
