In regard to the proposed lectures, Mr. Clark wishes me to say that although he regrets the necessity of giving it up, there seems to be no alternative.  Mr. Lockwood is away, and just now, elections and other matters are claiming the attention of people.  Were the lecture to be given, most of the work and responsibility of arranging for it would fall upon Mr. Clark, and he does not feel like assuming them. He is not well and is very [[underline]] very [[/underline]] busy. For your sake, of course, he
