I thought of visiting you this summer but as I have received this letter & Miss Fletcher wants Mary to have a friend that will be a Mother to her perhaps you had as well send her to me.  But I leave you to be the judge. There is so much prejudice against the Indians that I would like my trial to prove successful

There is only one thing that I do require, that is, an honest girl. I see nothing in Miss Fletcher's letter about Mary that I would fear. She is but a child & needs play as well as work. & several years more

I do not keep servants, My family is small. one daughter & she teaches in the school nearby - one son at home the others are traveling most of the time. The daughter is the youngest, I can teach the Indian girl all the lessons she will want. & I will teach her all kinds of house work by having her assist me. also dress-making, - cuting & fiting.

I have two daughters married that taught school up to within two weeks of their mariage,  & they & they are proficent in all these things. of course these are
