My dear friend-

I hope you may receive this, though as we have no sound of your trumpet for many weeks there seems a doubt.

Rev. J C. Hartzel D.D. writes me hunting you up to engage you to talk before the National Assembly in the interests of Education for the Indian, on "Indian Day," Saturday Aug. 11th. I believe Genl. Eaton presides, and urges that you be brought forward. Genl. Clinton B Fisk, is to be the Pres't. of Indn Day. Bishop Whipple, and the Indn Rights Assn, are to be on hands. Alltogether it looks as though there was to be a big chance. The speeches are all to be printed in a book, and thousands of them scattered over the Country. I would urge to to be here, if it is at all practicable.

Our Carlisle Band goes down to blow for us.
