Dear Miss Lfetcher,

As the box of which you had heard as having been sent on 30th Oct was known to you in your letter of 3rd Nov. which I read on 9th (I think the post mark was 5th) I hoped within 3 or 4 days at farthest to hear of your reception of it - but it is now Saturday [[??]] 17th and no word has reached us - I trust that it is not your increased ill health which has [[preosuted??]] the notice - I further hope that some Candies forwarded by [[??] on 12th have had a shorter transit and have proved useful to you - On

Sunday last I heard an address on Alaska from D. Sheldon Jackson - On making his acquaintance before leaving the Church, I found that he had long known you, and you may be pleased to learn that he said "She is a power in Washington". His letter from N.Y. to me said that he was about to invite you - I had given your address on his asking for it on Sunday. I have read his "Alaska" and have ordered Mrs McNair Wrights later publication. D.J.. sent me some leaflets (2) which present a very dark picture of the home condition of the Alaskans, with a few gleams of light both native
