I was absent when Alice died but the information was sent to me and although we could not have changed the results, she would have been sent home if notice had been received at the school from you. Her body is now in such a state of decomposition as [[?]] it wholly impracticable to sent it home. It has been kindly and tenderly laid away, and it seems to me that when you consider it fully you will hind that it would be better to let it rest there. I will have a stone placed at the head of the grave showing that she is your daughter, and when she died. I trust you will feel
