Springer Farm, July 12th 1885.
Dear Friend Willie:-
     I come to day to write for your broken hearted mother, to you and Elsie, to tell you the [[underlined]] sad, sad [[/underlined]] news of your dear father's death.  He died Saturday, early in the morning, we laid him away late in the afternoon.  The 11th of July he died & was burried.  You must come to help your mother care for her little ones.  We are here with them to day.  While [[Mr.]] [[M.]] is gone around to the Indians; but how sad her life will be if you do not come.  Surely they will not refuse now, you can work for the family & must come & at once.  They [[underlined]] must [[/underlined]] send you both home.
